Highway Patrol clears wreck on U.S. 421 near Isabel Holmes Bridge

Troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol have cleared the wreck on U.S. 421 near the Isabel Holmes Bridge.

According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper J.A. Miller, a Buick SUV was making a left turn out of the Scotchman gas station at about 10 a.m. Tuesday, when the SUV pulled out in front of a tractor-trailer, striking it.

Miller said the driver of the tracker-trailer slammed on his breaks, causing them to lock up and jackknife in the road.

Everyone involved in the wreck sustained injuries, but Miller said everyone was “OK.” The driver of the SUV broke his left leg and shoulders, Miller said. The driver and a passenger in the tractor-trailer were also injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
