A 26-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle wreck in Brunswick County on Tuesday.
According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol Master Trooper John King, Jessica Leann Jackson, 26, of Southport, was killed in a head-on collision at 10:23 a.m. Tuesday on N.C. 133 near Leland.
King said Jackson was traveling south on N.C. 133, when she fell asleep at the wheel, crossed into the other lane and collided head-on with a truck.
King said a passenger in the vehicle was taken to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where she was treated and released.
The driver of the truck, Thomas Anthony Goodhand, 53, of Wilmington, refused treatment at the scene, King said.
“It was a pretty horrific collision,” said King.
Traffic shut down at the scene on N.C. 133 for about an hour and a half Tuesday, King said.
