Wilmington Health requests new $5.8 million outpatient surgery facility

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A local healthcare system is seeking to create a new ambulatory surgery facility at their facility on Silver Stream Lane.

Wilmington Health recently filed a certificate of need with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services for the project.

The facility would be created by relocating three existing multi-speciality gastrointestinal endoscopy rooms and adding another to the Silver Stream Lane site.

The project is expected to cost $5.8 million and would be completed in February 2025.

A public hearing for this project will be held Jan. 20, 2023, at 1 p.m. in room 528 of the Union Station Building at Cape Fear Community College, 502 N. Front St. in downtown Wilmington.

Anyone may file written comments concerning this proposal. Comments must be received by the Healthcare Planning and Certificate of Need Section no later than 5 p.m. on Jan. 3, 2023.

Comments may be submitted as an attachment to an email if they are sent to DHSR.CON.Comments@dhhs.nc.gov; comments can be mailed to 2704 Mail Service Center in Raleigh, North Carolina, 27699-2704.
