WILMINGTON — Every election year the local chapter of the NAACP hosts an event to encourage people to vote. The next Souls to the Polls event is scheduled during early voting, Sunday, Feb. 22.
New Hanover County NAACP welcome voters to meet at the historic St. Stephen AME Church, 501 Red Cross St., and march to Cape Fear Community College’s McLeod Building to cast their ballots. Participants should bring voter identification, as required by North Carolina law.
Afterward, lunch and fellowship will be enjoyed at The Eagle’s Dare, Third and Red Cross streets, with the food truck TASTE-N-SEIZE onsite.
Primary Election Day is March 3, though early voting is open through Saturday, Feb. 28. Voters can register on the same day they cast a ballot at any of the four sites below:
- Board of Elections Multipurpose Room (226 Government Center Dr.)
- Northeast Library David Poynter Room (1241 Military Cutoff Road)
- Carolina Beach Town Hall’s Police Training Room (1121 N. Lake Park Blvd.)
- Cape Fear Community College’s McLeod Building, (411 N. Front St.)
All hours of operation are accessible here.
