SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — Now with the region under a Winter Storm Warning, Extreme Cold Warning and Gale Force Warning, numerous closures are rolling in ahead of a winter storm approaching this weekend.
Wind chills will be around 0 degrees Saturday into Sunday evening, as blizzard conditions could be prompted from a low pressure system moving in from the coast. The National Weather Service in Wilmington has estimated snowfall could accumulate anywhere from 6 to 10 inches in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties (with expectations on the low end anywhere from 2 to 4 inches). Amounts could vary from place-to-place depending on how strong the bands are from the storm.
