Dain Larson, 38, of Wilmington, was taken into custody after an investigation stemming from a July 23 report.

On the afternoon of July 23, Wilmington Police Department officers responded to the Wingate Inn at 5126 Market Street after a caller reported a male exposing himself in his vehicle.

The caller told police she looked out her window and observed a male in his vehicle “exposing himself in a lewd manner” while watching a room where children were present. The suspect reportedly made eye contact with the caller before leaving the area.

Responding officers secured video evidence and a description of the vehicle. A subsequent investigation by a WPD detective led to the positive identification of Larson as the suspect. Warrants were then obtained for indecent exposure to a minor under the age of 16.

Larson was transported to the New Hanover County Jail, where he has since posted a $100,000 secure bond. He is scheduled to appear before District Court Judge Jeffrey Noecker at 2 p.m. on August 21 in courtroom 100 of the New Hanover County Courthouse for his first appearance.
