WILMINGTON — Michael Franti returned to the Port City on his annual sojourn, selling out three shows at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater over July 4th weekend.

It opened with Canadian band Bombargo before Franti and Spearhead took to the stage. Per their normal programming, the band welcomed the audience with an inspirational video, this year focusing on mental health.

As seen in past years, a second small stage was set up in the middle of the seating which allowed the singer to interact more with the audience throughout the venue too.

Photographer Tom Dorgan of MoonFrog Media was there to capture night one; he said, as always, kids were brought onstage randomly to sing along and the vibe was upbeat.

“It was a show that left everyone feeling good, which is why people keep coming back,” Dorgan said.
