A popular southeastern grocery store has placed a recall at nearly all of its store locations.
On Jan. 8, 2024, Publix Super Markets voluntarily recalled its Publix brand Carolina-Style Mustard BBQ Sauce packets, normally sold at the deli. The product contains an undeclared fish allergen, according to a release from the FDA. The possible presence of anchovies in the sauce is not mentioned in the ingredient list, making it unknowingly dangerous to people with fish allergies.
The product has been removed from Publix’s shelves in all 1,360 locations throughout Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The only location that was not affected by the recall was in Kentucky — it opened earlier this week.
Customers should throw away or return any 2-ounce Carolina-Style Mustard BBQ Sauce packets with a sell-by date of April 8, 2024. The package will also be marked with a universal product code 0 41415 57162 4.
