WILMINGTON — Discovered prowling the streets of downtown Wilmington, Carolina and her four kittens were offered shelter by a kind-hearted volunteer.

According to Monica Filyaw, president of the rescue group All 4 Cats, the mother got her name from her distinctive marking.

“They were initially fostered in a bus,” Filyway said. “Cat is the name of the person who rescued her. She named her Carolina because she has a Tar Heel spot.”

An affectionate kitty, Carolina enjoys napping in the sunshine and cuddling with her foster family.

“She is a tuxedo domestic medium-haired cat,” Filyaw said. “She is a chill, sweet cat. She’s OK around music, people, and other cats.”

Approximately two years old, Carolina is a younger kitty who could potentially share a home with other animals.

Now 8 weeks old, Carolina’s kittens are also available for adoption.

“Their names are Booger, Spud, Filerckin, and Nerdle. Cat named them and they are adorable,” Filyaw said. “Two of them, they are super outgoing and one is shy and laid back.”

The adoption fee for either Carolina or any one of her kittens is $80.

“For Carolina, she is spayed, microchipped, FIV and FELV negative, has had her flea treatment, been vaccinated and dewormed,” Filyaw said.

To be considered as a forever family for one of the kitties, the first step for a prospective adopter is to complete the online application at www.all4cats.org. Applicants will then be contacted by a volunteer, to discuss the application.

“She’d make such a good lap cat” Filyaw said as she petted Carolina. “She likes to play with her ball, too. She really is just a great cat.”
