WILMINGTON — Though baseball season for high school and youth players is still months away, the time to get better is now. For that reason, UNC-Wilmington baseball is hosting a developmental academy for young ballplayers on Wednesday nights during the month of November.
UNCW graduate assistant Josh Stott came up with the idea months ago and his idea came to fruition with the Seahawks hitting clinic back in August.
Participants will receive instruction and work on drills at the beginning of each session. Drills and instruction will progress as the sessions continue in fielding, pitching and hitting. Instructors will include the current UNCW coaching staff and current players.
Each clinic will be held on campus under the lights at Brooks Field. Dates are flexible depending on weather. Players should be cleats and tennis shoes for hitting in cage area. Players are asked to wear comfortable clothing for workouts, but baseball pants are not required.
There are three sessions per week. Fielding gets underway at 5:45 p.m. Hitting and pitching instruction will take place from 6:45-7:45 p.m. For four weeks, the cost is $140 to attend one session each week, $240 for two sessions each week and $340 for all three sessions.
