Caroline Cahill continues strong play on the golf course; Laney, Coastal Christian soccer post shutouts; Wilmington Christian volleyball remains consistent

Golf

Caroline Cahill continued her strong play this season on the links as the Laney standout posted a 70 to earn low medalist honors during Monday’s Mideastern Conference Match held at Belvedere Golf Club in Hampstead.

Cahill hit 34 on the front nine and posted a 36 after the turn to earn a nine shot victory over teammate Jayla Rogers. Laney cruised to the team win, while Anna Moore placed third on the individual leader board with an, 87.

 

Soccer

Laney 5    Topsail 0

Laney followed up an impressive win over Holly Springs late last week with a 5-0 shutout against Topsail on Monday. Tristan Nelson notched the hat trick, while Logan Gray and Jackson Herren each found the back of the net.

Simon Daughtry, Casey Johnson, Owen Platt, and Logan Acuna recorded assists in the result. Owen Platt (two saves) and Kyle Messier (three saves) combined on the clean sheet.

Laney moved to 2-2 in conference and 6-4-2 overall.

Coastal Christian 4   Parrott Academy 0

Douglas McKinney added to his goal total on Monday as the senior from Coastal Christian tallied twice in a 4-0 result against Parrott Academy.

Tommy Murphy and Walker Henderson both found the back of the net for the Centurions, who improved to 13-2-1 overall. Goalkeepers Hunter Mintz and Kyle Makely combined for the clean sheet.

North Brunswick had an incredible 19 service aces on Monday night in a straight set sweep over Dixon. Alleigh Himes had nine aces, six kills, and six digs. Kaylee Scoggins paced the attack with 11 attacks, while Aliah

Johnson keyed the passing game with 24 assists.
