Cape Fear Academy took six of seven singles matches to secure an 8-1 victory over Laney on Wednesday afternoon. Anna Sharbaugh picked up a straight set 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 while Lila Das dropped just three games at No. 6, respectively.
Sharbaugh and Laila Goudarzi also outlasted Erin Nessleroade and Anna Porcelli in doubles action 9-7, and Madison Graham battled to a 6-4, 7-5 (10-5) result at No. 5 singles. Porcelli scored the lone point for the Bucs with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Goudarzi on the No. 2 court.

South Brunswick picked up a bounce back win in a 3-1 victory North Brunswick on Wednesday. The Cougars improved to 7-4 overall, but remain 0-3 in conference play.

Caylen Folmar leads the team with 72 kills on the year, while Kaitlyn Crabtree has stayed consistent from the service line with 21 aces. Folmar and Rexi-Lee Harris have provided a steady hand on the defense with a combined 220 digs.

Jack Kiernan lit the lamp for the second straight match as New Hanover earned two results in as many days following a 3-0 shutout over New Bern. Juan Rosales and John Cunius also found the back of net, while Jackson Lumpkin recorded two assists.
Roman Lewis finished with two saves. The Wildcats improved to 7-2-1 heading into their conference opener against Laney on Tuesday, September 15.
