New Hanover scratched one across in the fourth to break a scoreless ballgame and tacked on four more runs in the sixth to pick up a 5-3 win over West Brunswick at Legion Stadium on Tuesday.

Trey Croom, Garrett Walston and Lambert Long had two hits apiece for the Wildcats, while Caleb Bishop moved to 2-1 on the hill. Bishop allowed three runs-none earned-on five hits, with two walks and six strikeouts in a complete game effort.
Walston opened the scoring with an RBI single to make it 1-0 before New Hanover built a five run lead headed into the seventh.
Long and Cory Everrett each smacked doubles as the Wildcats improved to 3-1 in conference and 7-2 overall. Tyler McDuffie went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs to lead the Trojans.

Hoggard overcame three errors thanks to a big effort on the mound by Brandon Boone as the Vikings held off Laney 5-4 at home on Tuesday night. Boone tossed a complete game one-hitter to earn the victory.

For the second straight game, Clark Cota hit a home run in the top of the first-a two-run shot-as Topsail shutout South Brunswick 3-0 in Hampstead on Tuesday night.

Austin Baird struck out three over five innings to get the victory, while Payton Rice got the final six outs in relief to record the save.
Cota finished 1-for-2 at the plate with a walk and Danny Wilson went 2-for-2 with a double.
The Pirates moved to 4-1 atop the Mideastern Conference and 8-1 overall.

Hailey Grizzle had three hits and Victoria Elder drove in a pair of runs to lead Topsail in an 11-1 win over South Brunswick in five innings on Tuesday.
The Pirates carried a 3-1 lead after the first inning and struck for three in the fourth and five in the fifth on 13 total hits.
Grizzle and Elder both combined on the stripe to hold the Cougars to just one run on four hits.
Topsail remains atop the Mideastern Conference standings with a 5-0 mark inside league play and improved to 6-0 overall.

The Vikings won the first match 6-0 and finished the sweep with a 9-0 win. Dom Scialabba, Dillon Cook and Cadman Styers each won two singles matches and a doubles match for Hoggard (6-2, 6-1 Mideastern).
