UNCW plated seven runs in the bottom of the eighth as the Seahawks rallied from an early deficit to sail past visiting George Mason 12-8 on Saturday at Brooks Field in the Hughes Bros. Challenge.
The Seahawks (5-0) stayed perfect on the young season after sweeping the twin bill with a 6-4 win over Western Carolina earlier in the day.

UNCW is 5-0 for the first time since it opened 2009 with nine straight wins.
Will Shepley (1-0) picked up the win in the night cap, while freshman Austin Magestro (1-0) earned the win against the Catamounts.
Trailing 3-0 in the second inning of game one, UNCW drew even with three runs in the bottom of the frame and took a 6-3 lead in the sixth. Steven Linkous gave the Seahawks a one-run advantage with an RBI single and two more unearned runs crossed the plate off a Western Carolina error later in the inning.
In game two, UNCW again trailed early before exploding for seven runs in the eighth to take a 12-6 lead. Thirteen batters made their way to the plate in the inning as the Seahawks combined for seven hits and took advantage of a pair of Patriot miscues.
Terrence Connelly and Robbie Thorburn each had three hits apiece and combined for four RBI in the late afternoon matchup against George Mason.
