Wilmington native Connor Barth made a memorable first impression in his season debut on Sunday as the former Hoggard High School standout tied the Denver Broncos’ franchise record with five field goals in a 29-16 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Barth, who won the job early last week during a workout in the Mile High City, was back in the NFL for his first game since 2012 and took the field against the organization that originally signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2008.

Barth was straight down the middle on five attempts, converting from 22, 24, 30, 33 and 37 yards. It was the first time a Bronco has kicked five field goals in a game since Jason Elam did so in Miami on Oct. 13, 2002. Elam set the franchise record on Nov. 16, 1997.
Barth joins Elam, Rich Karlis (1983) and Gene Mingo (1963) as Broncos with five field goals.
