Senior guard Kelva Atkins made 10 of 19 shots from the floor and scored 29 points to lead the UNCW women’s basketball team to its second win 89-80 in a non-conference victory over Campbell University (2-1) at Trask Coliseum on Wednesday night.

Atkins, who recorded the fourth 25-point game of her UNCW career, added six assists as the Seahawks improved to 2-0 for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign.
In a back-and-forth first half that featured 10 ties and 13 lead changes, UNCW rallied from a 38-32 deficit by scoring 11 of the final 14 points to take a 43-41 lead into the intermission. Atkins accounted for five points during the spurt.
After the Camels battled back to tie the game at 47-47 with 17:35 remaining in the second half, the Seahawks answered by scoring 11 of the next 13 points to regain a nine-point advantage with 14:33 remaining on a pair of free throws by freshman guard Madison Raque.
The Camels trimmed the margin to 60-57 with 12:08 remaining, but were unable to get any closer.
While Atkins led the Seahawks to the victory, sophomore forward Ryan Flowers posted the fifth “double double” of her college career with 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Sophomore guard Johanna McMillan added a career-high 17 points after making six of nine field goal attempts, including a five-for-eight performance from beyond the arc.
The Seahawks will play their first road game of the season on Saturday, Nov. 22, when they travel to Appalachian State for a 2 p.m. non-conference game against the Mountaineers.
