“This is a great opportunity for our players to match up against some of the best young talent in the country while gaining extra game minutes in a high-level match,” said Jason Arnold, Wilmington Hammerheads FC General Manager. “This exhibition further helps our club’s strong relationship with U.S. Soccer and shows our commitment to helping our players develop on the field.”

The national team assembled last weekend at N.C. State University for a weeklong, 24-player training camp. The camp features friendly matches against the Carolina RailHawks on May 20 and the RailHawks U-23s on May 22.

“We have a squad of players and some of the younger players need to play and get minutes,” said Wilmington Hammerheads FC Head Coach David Irving. “It is a win-win situation for us and the U-20s to play and exhibition match. This way players that do not receive much playing time can increase their development.”

The Hammerheads are scheduled to play a regular season matchup against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Friday, May 23, at Legion Stadium before to traveling to Raleigh on Saturday.
