West Brunswick broke open a one-run ballgame late in the contest as Chandler Taylor came up with a two-out RBI double to score two as the Trojans defeated Topsail 9-2 on Friday night in Hampstead.

Matt Wallace recorded the win on the hill for West Brunswick, who improved to 2-1 in conference and 5-3 overall. Topsail fell to 0-4 in league play and 2-4 overall.
The Trojans had a 3-2 lead when they broke out with a six-run sixth to put the game out of reach. Wallace made it 4-2 on a fielder’s choice for the second out of the inning, but Taylor came up clutch with the extra base hit to drive in two, while Dylan Darguzas and Zack Johnson added RBI singles later in the frame to close it out.
West Brunswick (2-1, 5-3) gets back into action on Tuesday, March 25 at home against New Hanover. Topsail (0-4, 2-4) travels to South Brunswick on Tuesday.

The Lady Screaming Eagles pounded out 10 hits and broke a 4-0 game open with seven runs in the top of the seventh en route to an 11-0 win at Hoggard on Friday.
Bailey Williams paced Ashley with a 3-for-4 night at the plate, which included a homerun and double, while Schae Dickson , Jordan Floyd and Jessica Stergakos recorded three hits apiece.
Melissa Marks and Briana Rodriguez had two hits for Hoggard, who fell to 1-2 in conference and 4-3 overall. Ashley and Laney now sit atop the league with a pair of 3-0 records in conference.

One day after Caroline Gore combined to throw a no-hitter against South Brunswick, the junior from West Brunswick delivered another big game from the circle and allowed just one hit as the Lady Trojans scored a run in the seventh to secure the 1-0 victory at Topsail in a 3A Mideastern Conference matchup in Hampstead.
Gore struck out four in the complete game shutout to move her record to 5-1 on the stripe, while Haley Long drove in the game-winning RBI with a base hit to score Maddie Emmons in the win. Haley Grizzle tossed a strong game for Topsail, but the bats for West Brunswick came alive in the seventh as the Trojans had three hits in the decisive game.
Long finished 2-for-3 at the plate to lead West Brunswick, while Ashton Bizzell went 1-for-2 for Topsail.
The Lady Trojans improved to 3-1 in league play and 6-1 overall. West Brunswick takes on New Hanover at home on Tuesday, March 23. Topsail fell to 1-3 in conference and 4-3 overall.

Hoggard picked up its second win over a conference foe this week with a 12-6 victory against Ashley on Friday. Trevor Brown scored six times, while Aaron Bierman added two goals to pace the Vikes. Tenton Noveilli also made 11 saves in the win.
Fletcher Stevenson had a team-high three scores for Ashley.
The Vikings moved to 4-0 in conference and extended their winning streak to four straight as Hoggard sits at 5-1 on the year.

Hoggard used nine goals from Julia Buehler as the Vikings picked up a big conference win 15-10 over Ashley on Frida night.
Taylar Herman and Lindsey Yelton tallied twice for Hoggard, while Haley Maxwell and Kendal Goldblum each chipped in with a goal apiece. Miranda Thomas also played a strong game in net with seven saves for the Vikings.
Peyton LeCompte had six goals to lead the Ashley attack and Heather Talton recorded five assists in the setback for Ashley.

Senior Hayley Meier had three goals to lead the Lady Bucs to an 8-6 win over New Hanover on Friday night. Hailey Sanderson and Rachel Smith also chipped in with two scores apiece for Laney.

Senior Noah Lassiter took a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1, while Jonathan Hartness dropped just one game in 6-1, 6-0 sweep at No. 6 singles.
