Western Carolina (8-2) scored all 18 runs before the fifth inning, producing all it would need in a four-inning stretch including a trio of big frames as the Catamounts upset No. 15 Clemson 18-10 on Tuesday.

The offensive explosion was a welcomed sight for freshman starter, Bryan Sammons (3-0), who scored his third victory of the season in his first career start. The Wilmington native and Hoggard High School alumni pitched around four walks with a career-high five strikeouts, surrendering four runs – only three of which were earned – on six hits in a career-long five innings.
