Senior Cole Plott got things rolling with an 18-2 (5:22) win at 145 pounds, and freshman Kevin Scravin (8-7) provided the match-clinching points at 120 pounds with a 1:57 win by fall to lead Laney (13-0, 3-0) to a 65-18 win over Topsail on Wednesday in a Mideastern 3A/4A Conference wrestling match in the Trask Middle School gymnasium.
David Bostan (17-3 at 112), Thad Poore (12-7 at 126/132), Russell Harrison (17-2 at 152), and Grant Bowman (14-5 at 220/Hwt.) all recorded first-period pins for the Buccaneers.
Matt Schaefer (9-2 at 180, Robert Sculthorpe (16-4 at 160), and sophomore Joe Sculthorpe (19-1 at Heavyweight)–the 2013 2A 285-pound state runner-up as a freshman–recorded wins by fall to account for all the points for the Pirates (4-9, 3-1).

Northern Durham outscored the Lady Eagles 17-6 in the fourth quarter to pick up the non-conference win on Wednesday night.
North Brunswick 63 East Columbus 52
Trailing by 10 at the break, North Brunswick came out with a big second half behind Jada Bellamy’s game-high 28 points in a 63-52 win over East Columbus. Bellamy also grabbed eight boards and dished out three assists for the Lady Scorps, who rebounded from an early season loss to the Lady Gators.
North Brunswick improved to 6-2 on the year.
