Ramsey tabbed as CAA Pitcher of the Week

Jordan Ramsey was named CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week after a strong outing against nationally ranked San Diego (Calif.) on Saturday during the Hughes Bros. Baseball Challenge.

Ramsey, a sophomore, went toe-to-toe with USD junior Dylan Covey, who was a first-round draft pick out of high school, as both tossed shutout baseball in a game that was decided in extra innings. Neither pitcher figured in the decision.

In 6 and 2/3 innings, Ramsey scattered four hits and walked three while striking out six.

Ramsey lowered his earned run average to 2.33 following the start and has not allowed an earned run in his last 14 and 2/3 innings.

The award is the fourth of his career after being the CAA Rookie of the Week three times in 2012. He shared the award with Patrick Toohers, a sophomore from James Madison who held Hartford in check during an 11-3 win.
