Adams, Seahawks Start Strong At Wofford

SPARTANBURG, South Carolina – Junior Lori Beth Adams carded a career-low 70 and sits in second place to lead UNCW in the first round of the Terrier Intercollegiate Monday at the Country Club of Spartanburg.

Adams is just two shots off the pace set by Gardner-Webb’s Mary Donovan, who posted a four-under-par 68 to grab the individual lead. Seahawks junior Laverry Kumar is two shots back of Adams, part of a three-way tie for third at even par.

UNCW combined for a team-total 296 Monday and will enter Tuesday’s final round in second place, two strokes back of first place Gardner-Webb (294). UNC Pembroke sits five shots back of the Seahawks in third (301) while Mercer is fourth (304).

Freshman Johanna Bjoerk posted a three-over-par 75 in her collegiate debut and holds a share of 13th place. Sophomore Mallory Warrick is part of a five-way tie for 31st after an opening-round 79 while senior Danielle Lamy is tied for 55th after an posting an 83 on Monday.

The final round of the Terrier Intercollegiate gets underway Tuesday with a shotgun start scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
