After learning about foreign material contaminating chicken and cheese taquito products sold at a discount grocery chain, a California food purveyor has recalled the product.
The recall from Bestway Sandwiches Inc. affects 24,870 pounds of Casa Mamita Chicken and Cheese Taquitos, sold at Aldi grocery stores nationwide.
The firm notified the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service after a customer complaint was filed about metal located in the product. Another customer sustained a dental injury, according to the USDA.
The products were made on July 3, 2024 and Sept. 25, 2024 and sold in 20-ounce packages with best by dates, “07/03/25” and “09/25/25,” printed on the bottom panel. The establishment number on the package “EST. P-40327.”
Anyone with the product should toss it or return it for a refund.
Consumers with food safety questions can call the toll-free USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or send a question via email to MPHotline@usda.gov.
