Home tour to kick off with culinary event

WILMINGTON — Ahead of the Wilmington-Cape Fear Home Builders Association’s 37th annual Parade of Homes, a dinner that pairs local craft beer and wine with carefully prepared dishes by area chefs will take place.

Riverlights will host Taste of Home on Friday, April 28, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Diners will traverse through eight new model homes in the 1,400-acre development located along the southern Cape Fear River to enjoy bites and sips at each stop.

There will be heavy hors d’oeuvres catered by Middle of the Island and craft beer from Wilmington Brewing Company. A wine tasting will be offered at every home as well. The menu will consist of:

  • Bourbon Boursin chicken, caprese skewers and American Amber Ale
  • Mini lump crab cakes and Bier Garden Kolsh
  • Prime rib and Tropical Lightning IPA
  • Mac-and-cheese bar and Tropical Lightning IPA
  • Asparagus Asiago in phyllo, crab-stuffed mushrooms and Taco Life Mexican Style Lager
  • Pulled pork sliders and Jalapeno Saison
  • Strawberry spinach salad and Jalapeno Saison
  • Shrimp and grits and Bier Garden Kolsh

Live music will be performed by Port City Shake Down at the nearby park after and there will be a Chocolate and S’more food truck parked, serving salted caramel s’mores and strawberry cheesecake s’mores with strawberry preserves from local Lewis Nursery and Farms.

Riverlights is the featured community for this year’s Parade of Homes, which runs for two consecutive weekends, April 28-29 and May 5-6. The eight homes are in Riverlights’ new model row, anchoring the next phase of development. Home builders featured on Riverlights’ new model row include New Leaf Builders, Trusst Builder Group, Pulte Homes, Charter Building Group and Legacy Homes by Bill Clark.
