WILMINGTON — Community members, businesses, organizations and creative groups are invited to decorate a tabletop Christmas tree for the Thalian Association’s charity auction.

Proceeds from the Lighting the Way tree auction will help support the Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center. Those interested in participating can pick up their free tabletop tree from the community center beginning Sept. 21; however, only 32 are available and it is first come, first serve.

Participants are encouraged to decorate their tree in their own style or business brand and showcase their creativity and personality.

After decoration, the trees will be on display in the Community Arts Center lobby while the online auction is ongoing, from Nov. 9 through Dec. 6. Online bidding closes at 8 p.m. on Dec. 6, and winners can pick up their trees from Dec. 7 through the 11 during normal business hours.

The Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center is owned by the City of Wilmington and managed by Thalian Association Community Theatre. In addition to be an arts and recreation center, it also serves as a miniature museum of the Wilmington and New Hanover County World War 2 home front.
