WILMINGTON — Parrotheads can “Keep the Party Going,” even three years after Jimmy Buffett’s passing. The remainder of the Coral Reefer Band is coming to Wilmington to honor his rock-and-roll legacy this summer.
At Live Oak Pavilion on July 14, Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band will perform iconic songs from the musician’s career as a part of its “Keep the Party Going” tour. Fans will also have the opportunity to listen to stories about Buffett and hear “deep cuts” and “special insights from the band members,” according to a press release.
The Coral Reefer Band is led by longtime member Mac McAnally, who started leading the group after Buffett’s death in 2023. McAnally is joined by other Coral Reefer veterans: Robert Greenidge, Peter Mayer, Jim Mayer, Roger Guth, Doyle Grisham, John Lovell, Eric Darken, Mick Utley, Nadirah Shakoor, Tina Gullickson, Scotty Emerick and Will Kimbrough; most of the band members have performed with Buffett for over 30 years.
The band started in the early ‘70s, with Buffett as lead vocalist until his death from Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of skin cancer. Known for hits like “Margaritaville,” “Come Monday” and “Cheeseburger in Paradise,” the Coral Reefer Band’s discography is a mix of island and country rock. July’s Wilmington show is a part of a 19-date run.
Citi presale tickets for the Live Oak Pavilion concert are on sale now, with general public on-sale beginning Friday, March 20 at 10 a.m.
