WILMINGTON — The Wilson Center at Cape Fear Community College has announced a winter concert from Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Chris Botti.

The show will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22.

A well-known worldwide instrumentalist, Botti has performed for three decades and collaborated with musicians including Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga, Frank Sinatra, Aretha Franklin, and Joni Mitchell.

Botti has released his first album in more than a decade, centered on acoustic jazz and classic standards.

“I wanted to strip away all the orchestral arrangements and special guests and focus more on my playing, the playing of my band, and these jazz classics that we always love playing on stage,” Botti said in a release.

Vol. 1 (Blue Note Records) covers new versions of songs like “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” and “My Funny Valentine,” as well as newer pop standards, such as Coldplay’s “Fix You.”

Tickets go on sale to his show for Wilson Center members at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13, and to the general public at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. They’re available online here or by contacting the box office at (910) 362-7999 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
