WILMINGTON — Last year, Marina Grill and the Pier at Port City Marina decided to pick up where WDI’s former Downtown Sundown concert series left off: offering free music to fans during summer months.
It’s bringing back its Friday Night Live! concert series in June, with seven cover bands slated to play on Port City Pier at Marina Grill at 6:30 p.m. on show nights.

Tributes will be performed representing the Rolling Stones, Journey, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, as well as acts that stage all-’80s music or MTV hits.
Added to the live music is a charity program, wherein audiences that wish to drink purchase a $1 wristband to indicate they’re of age (bartenders can still card at the bar), with funds benefitting area nonprofits.
The application is open here for organizations that wish to apply. The charities can receive a maximum of $500 (50% of up to $1,000) and provide eight volunteers to help man the event. Those who can’t provide volunteers will receive 37.6% of profits.
Charity information may be passed out at the event upon approval by concert organizers. Applications are due by April 21, emailed to haven@portcitymarina.com or mailed or delivered to Marina Grill at 18 Harnett St., Wilmington NC 28401.

June 2: Satisfaction (The Rolling Stones)
