Burgaw to host 5 free concerts for ‘Summer on the Square’

BURGAW — Live music will permeate the quaint historic town this June and July, as the Town of Burgaw and Pender County present its “Summer on the Square” concerts.

All shows are free and take place Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Food trucks are parked on site for each event, including dessert trucks. Picnics are welcome — just no alcohol. Attendees can also bring blankets and chairs; pets should be kept at home.

The lineup includes:

June 1: Gary Lowder and Smokin’ Hot, showcasing beach music, R&B, soul; food trucks will include Forks ‘n’ Motion and Pepe’s

June 15: Rivermist, party band playing hits from ’70s to 2000s; food trucks include Top Dog Hotdogs and Fusion Blue Zone Cuisine

June 29: Carl Newton’s Review, performing Top 40, R&B, and soul; food trucks include Webo’s and Somethin’ Good

July 13: Bacon Grease, playing rock, ’90s, soul, reggae; food trucks include to Southern Roots and The Sea Queen

July 27: Blackwater Band, bringing Top 40, blues, country, and funk; food trucks include Top Dog Hotdogs and Mema’s Chicken and Ribs
