WILMINGTON — A ’90s favorite will be coming through the Port City this July, as Barenaked Ladies have been announced as the latest act to land at Live Oak Bank Pavilion. They’re touring in support of their Last Summer on Earth 2023 American Tour.

The Canadian rock band started as a duo, featuring Ed Robertson and Steven Page, in 1991 in Toronto. They become well-known for their comedic repartee and free-stylin’ raps, played between acoustic and electric riffs.

The group expanded, adding brothers Jim and Andy Creeggan and Tyler Stewart. Creeggan decided to leave in 1995, to be replaced by Kevin Hearn. Page exited in 2009.

Throughout three decades, BNL have released 17 studio albums, including their debut in 1992, “Gordon,” which featured some of their most popular hit to date.

“If I Had 1,000,000,000 Dollars” charted No. 13 in Canada and on the UK Rock Chart in 1996, as well as No. 37 on the US Billboard Adult Top 40 in 2000.

The band also reached success and fandom for tracks such as “One Week,” “Enid,” and “Brian Wilson” (the famed Beach Boy who also has covered the tune at his own shows).

Aside from selling 15 million albums and singles, Barenaked Ladies have won multiple Juno Awards and were nominated for two Grammys. They were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in March 2018.

Their tour this summer includes Five For Fighting — who toured through Greenfield Lake Amphitheater last year — and Del Amitri. The acts will stop over in downtown Wilmington on Friday, July 14. The VIP presale is Tuesday, Jan. 31, through the Barenaked Bytes app.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, Feb. 3, 10 a.m.
