WB police, first responders recover body from Banks Channel

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH — A death investigation is underway in Wrighstville Beach, according to the police department.

Monday, June 27, the police responded to a call for service in the 500 block of Waynick Boulevard. Officers, along with EMS, Wrightsville Beach Fire Department, U.S. Coast Guard and NHC Sheriff’s Office boat and dive teams, blocked off the perimeter. A coordinated search resulted in a body recovered from Banks Channel.

The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, the release noted.

The matter continues to be investigated by Detective B. Neral. Though the victim has been identified and the family notified, the identification has not been revealed.
