WILMINGTON — For those living off Gordon Road and the surrounding areas there are not many options to grab a cold beer and watch a game without venturing off onto Market Street, but that is all about to change as a well-established Wilmington bar prepares to open its second location near the new Boardwalk Pizza and Subs.
Tinyz Tavern first opened in Wilmington off 17th Street 13-years ago and now owners Jason Ruth and Matt Hall are ready to open their brand’s second location off Gordon Road.
They have been looking to expand for some time now, Ruth said, especially into the area they are opening, however, there was just nowhere there to move to.
That is until the Shoppes at Gordon opened.
Recently, Boardwalk Pizza and Subs opened at the Shoppes and when Ruth saw that, he jumped at the opportunity to make the Tinyz brand just a little bit bigger and signed a lease.
Since Tinyz is a ‘Private Club,’ not a restaurant, being next door to a pizza shop seemed like the perfect fit, he said.
While it is a private club, that does not mean Tinyz is excluding anyone. Like most bars in the state, bars are actually not called bars but ‘private clubs’ membership is technically required, but most places usually charge a nominal lifetime fee of $1. Members can also bring in guests.
The idea behind Tinyz is simple, Ruth said he has always treated the bar as his own living room and that is the vibe they go for, with sports packages on TV, cold beer, and drinks.
The two are already in the construction process and are hoping to open sometime in September, but as with anything, circumstances can always change depending on contractors, permits, and more.
The tavern will be located at 6756 Gordon Road and Tinyz Tavern can be found online.
