RALEIGH — Governor Roy Cooper has announced he will address the state Wednesday evening on the potential impact of Hurricane Irma. The storm is currently a category 5 Hurricane; experts from the National Weather Service expect it to strike Florida tomorrow.
The Governor will make his address at 5:30 p.m. to announce updates to the state’s preparations as Hurricane Irma appears to be turning north, shifting its projecting path up the Atlantic coast. Cooper will be joined by Emergency Management Director Mike Sprayberry, who is expected to make specific remarks about efforts being taken by North Carolina’s Emergency Management team.
