Robert “Bob” Herdemian (Coble Funeral & Cremation Service at Greenlawn Memorial Park)

WILMINGTON — Robert “Bob” Herdemian, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Slate Hill, NY, passed away on September 26, 2026.

Born in the Bronx, NY, to Charles and Grace Herdemian, Bob grew up with four brothers, Charlie, Paul, Tony, and Eddie, who always called one another “bubba.” Baseball was his sport, and he played second base.

Bob spent 33 years as a special education teacher with Orange-Ulster BOCES, where he made a difference in the lives of his students. After retiring, he and his wife, Cathy, herself a retired New York State elementary school teacher, moved to Wilmington, NC.

Bob loved the beach, Motown music, and the Yankees and Giants. Golf was a lifelong passion, and he passed it on to his son when Jeffrey was just five years old, cutting down persimmon woods to make him his first clubs. Above all, Bob loved people. He always made time for a conversation and was quick to help anyone in need. He was a generous supporter of Wounded Warriors and St. Jude.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine “Cathy” Herdemian; his son, Jeffrey, and daughter-in-law, Tayler; his grandchildren, Rose and George; and his brothers, Paul, Tony, and Eddie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Grace Herdemian, and his brother, Charlie.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 19, 2026, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 1011 Eastwood Road, Wilmington, NC 28403.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Bob’s memory.

Condolences may be sent to the family here.
