LELAND — Betty Bates Meredith age 93 of Leland, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on August 6, 1933 in Forsyth County, NC and spent her life as a devoted wife and mother. She never met a stranger and was known for her humor.
She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Forrest Meredith, her daughter Tina Minton (Denver), grandchildren, Kevin Dezern (Tonya) Dustin Dezern (Valley), 3 great grandchildren, Zoie, Bella and Asher Dezern. Seven nieces and nephews and many spiritual children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Verta Bates, father, Ernest Bates and brother E.F. Bates.
Betty was a devoted servant of Jehovah and spent decades in the public ministry and firmly believed in the scriptural hope of a resurrection.
