WILMINGTON — It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Jones on September 14, 2026. Born on February 12, 1942, Bob lived a life filled with warmth, sociability, and a love for his favorite sports teams, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
Bob was a devoted husband to Peggy Jones, whom he married in 1981, sealing a bond that would stand strong through the test of time. He was the proud father of five sons, Scott, Ryan, Zachary, and Eric Jones who survive him, and the late Robert Jones III, who predeceased him.
Bob was a family man who took immense pride in his grandchildren and their many accomplishments. It was not uncommon to find him cheering ardently from the sidelines at their sporting events, eyes gleaming with pride.
In addition to his wife and sons, Bob’s passing is mourned by his sisters Karen Wacker, Susan Noyd, and Beverley Platt. His absence will be deeply felt within the family and by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The memory of Bob’s warm and social character will remain etched in our hearts. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his life, cherishing the joy, laughter, and love he brought into our lives.
