WILMINGTON — Trudy Lynn Keever, age 78, of Wilmington, NC, passed away on August 30, 2026.
Trudy was born in High Point, NC, to the late Paul G. Warren and Helen J. Warren. Driven by a lifelong desire to care for others, she earned her degree to become a Registered Nurse. Trudy enjoyed a long, proud, and deeply impactful career, serving her community in multiple capacities, including the high-stakes environment of the ICU, the personalized care of Home Health, and the profound comfort of Hospice. She took immense pride in her profession and touched countless lives with her innate kindness and generosity.
Beyond her career, Trudy lived a life filled with joy and sharp intellect. She was an extraordinary cook who never backed down from a culinary challenge; in fact, the more complicated the recipe, the better. A woman of faith and fellowship, she cherished time spent with her church small group. Trudy also loved playing games, and her evenings were strictly reserved for Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! It was truly fascinating to watch her view the show, as she effortlessly recalled even the most obscure trivia answers.
Most of all, Trudy was an amazing mother. Loving, kind, and fiercely dedicated, she was always there when her daughter needed her, serving as a constant source of wisdom and support. In Trudy’s later years, their roles beautifully shifted, with her daughter lovingly stepping into the role of a “helicopter mom”—a testament to a bond built on profound love and an unwavering desire to give Trudy nothing but the absolute best. Trudy’s warmth extended to her entire family, her dear friends, and her adored granddogs.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Wendy Carper, and her husband, John; her former husband and father of Wendy, Dennis Keever; her sister, Janet Warren Payne, and her husband, Tom; her brother, Paul G. Warren, Jr., and his wife, Sharon; and her beloved granddogs, Emma Jane and Disco. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul, and her mother, Helen.
We will miss you, Mom. We will miss you more than words can say, and we will carry you with us always. We find comfort knowing you are being greeted with dog kisses and hugs from your passed granddogs, especially Dasher.
A service to celebrate Trudy’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church, located at 1416 Market St, Wilmington, NC 28401.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Trudy’s honor to your favorite animal charity.
