WILMINGTON — Elli Brailsford, 90, of Wilmington, NC, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Friday August 21, 2026.
Elli was born in Copenhagen Denmark to Harry and Christa Chistensen. She came to the United States in 1954 and married Norman Brailsford. They enjoyed 72 years of a loving and wonderful marriage.
She is predeceased by a son Donald and a sister Anni.
Elli is survived by her loving husband Norman, Sons Kenneth (Gilda), Steven (Diana), Alan, Michael (Carole), a daughter Deborah , 15 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.
She is also survived by a niece Lisa Corcoran and a nephew Thomas Bech and a longtime family friend and caregiver, Lisa Capitan.
She was an office manager for Burnt Mill Business Park and worked alongside her husband Norman.
She was an avid bowler, often going to Vegas to bowl in tournaments.
Elli was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She loved to laugh. Anyone that met her was an instant friend. She knew no strangers. We will all miss her terribly.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at Wrightsville United Methodist Church, 4 Live Oak Drive, Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480 on September 19, 2026 at 11am. All are welcome.
