WILMINGTON — Andrea Christine McCafferty, aged 79, passed away in Wilmington, NC on August 14, 2026. Born in New Jersey on October 5, 1946, Andrea brought light and love into the world with her gentle spirit and boundless passion for life.
Andrea was a graduate of Jersey City University, where she laid the foundation for her lifelong journey in education. She dedicated her career to education, inspiring countless students as a devoted teacher. Andrea’s enthusiasm for learning and unwavering commitment to her students left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of being in her classroom. She believed that teaching was not just a profession but a calling, one that she fulfilled with grace and dedication.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Andrea lived there all of her life until she relocated to Wilmington nine years ago with her daughter, Dena. In her new community, she quickly made many cherished friends, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. Andrea could often be found at the local senior center, enjoying bowling outings, or sharing laughter over lunch with her dear friends. Andrea spent her final years in the comforting company of George Johnson, with whom she shared daily dinners and warm companionship.
Andrea’s spirit lives on in the hearts of her daughter Dena Yeddo, her boyfriend George Johnson, and the many friends who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy continues through the lives she touched, both in her professional and personal life.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 1:00pm at Wilmington Funeral & Cremation, where friends are welcome to share memories and stories of Andrea.
