WILMINGTON — Stephen Ross Justice Jr., 54, passed from his earthly Thursday, July 9, 2026 at home.
He was born February 24, 1972 in Wilmington, the son of Stephen Ross Justice, Sr. and Janice Blanton Richardson.
In addition to his parents Stephen is survived by his wife, Paula Gales Justice; son, Stephen Ross Justice III; several cousins and many extended family members.
From waking up early to fish on the beaches of Topsail Island, to surfing in the North Carolina sun, Stephen, known in the community as Buddy, lived his life fully and with no regrets. Buddy’s reputation in this community was rich and deep, making people laugh, showing up for others, and being a steward of the oceans and inlets. His love for the ocean and the outdoors will be one of many ways he is remembered by those who knew him.
