WILMINGTON — Giuseppe “Joseph” Tiberia, 76, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Joe was born on September 8, 1949, in Ceccano, Italy, to Cesare and Giuseppa Tiberia. He later built a life centered on family, service, and lifelong learning. He and his beloved wife, Kathleen Tiberia, shared 55 wonderful years of marriage, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Joe earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and worked in information technology in New York’s financial district. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Throughout his life, he was committed to helping others. Following the events of September 11, 2001, he volunteered with the American Red Cross at Ground Zero in New York City. He also dedicated time to assisting immigrant farm workers, reflecting his compassion and concern for those in need.
Joe had a passion for golf, traveling, reading, and history. Whether exploring new places, enjoying a round of golf, or sharing stories about historical events, he found joy in life’s experiences and inspired those around him with his curiosity and generosity.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen Tiberia; his sisters, Teresa Tiberia and her husband, Augusto, and Antonia Tiberia; his sister-in-law, Denise McGrade; his nieces and nephews, Michael, Melissa, Patrick, and Sarah; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Christian, Jameson, Miles, Benjamin, Tristan, and Wyatt. He also leaves behind many cherished extended family members, including his cousins Enza, Joey, and Luciana, as well as dear friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Cesare and Giuseppa Tiberia; his brother-in-law, Stephen McGrade; and his parents-in-law, Marion and Stephen McGrade.
Joe will be remembered for his big heart, his generosity, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His kindness, strength, and quiet dedication to helping others leave a lasting legacy. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service will be held in Port Washington, New York. The date, time, and location will be announced at a later time.
