WILMINGTON — Brenda Driver Sasser of Wilmington, NC, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026. Born on June 19, 1952, in Rocky Mount, NC, Brenda was the daughter of Robert Putney Driver, Sr. and Patricia (Ann) Jones Driver Vause. She graduated from Northern Nash High School, Rocky Mount, NC, in 1971 and Kings College, Charlotte, NC, with a degree as Medical Assistant in 1972.
In March 1973 through August 2017, she worked in the banking industry with Bank of America and then First Citizens Bank until retirement.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Steven Daniel Sasser; her brother, Robert (Bob) and wife Melinda Driver; sisters Kaye (husband Danny) Smith, Martha (husband Al) Asby; along with nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Putney Driver, Sr., and mother Patricia “Ann” Jones Driver Vause; father-in-law R. D. Sasser; mother-in-law Joyce Lambert Sasser; and stepfather Jim Vause, along with many loving aunts and uncles.
To the staff of Novant Health NHRMC 7th Floor, thank you for your loving care. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of ladies and gentlemen to care for me. You were my transition team during this time that helped me in so many ways. I wish the absolute best to all of you.
