WILMINGTON — Carol Piaja Wilson, a devoted educator and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026, in Wilmington, North Carolina. She was 93 years old.
Born on November 15, 1932, in Passaic, New Jersey, Carol dedicated her life to the service of others through education. As a school teacher in New Jersey for over 30 years, she touched the lives of countless students with her kindness, patience, and unwavering commitment to their growth and learning.
Later in life, Carol found spiritual solace and a sense of belonging at St. Andrews On-the-Sound Episcopal Church in Wilmington, NC, where she was a valued member of the congregation.
Carol leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her son, Wade Wilson of Tobaccoville, North Carolina, her daughter, Mary Staek of Hampton, Virginia, as well as her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. Memorial service plans are pending and will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carol’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
