WILMINGTON — Barbara Ann Dicks, Ph.D., entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 21, 2026.
A proud native of Wilmington, North Carolina, Barbara Dicks was a graduate of Williston High School.
At Bennett College she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She earned her Master of Social Work from Wayne State University and later obtained both her Master of Public Health and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) from the University of Pittsburgh in a joint program.
She leaves to cherish her memories brother, Ernest Dicks; sister, Deborah Dicks Maxwell; a special niece, Dawna Maxwell; grandnephews, Diego and Dorian along with a host of special family and friends.
Visitation took place Monday, June 29 at Davis Funeral Home, 901 S 5th Avenue, Wilmington, NC 28401.
Homegoing service took place Tuesday, June at St. Stephen AME Church, 501 Red Cross Street, Wilmington, NC 28401.
Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and American Lung Association in lieu of flowers.
