Elinor Grimm Netzorg, 92

WILMINGTON — Elinor Grimm Netzorg, a remarkable woman of grace and tenacity, passed away on May 18, 2026, in Wilmington, NC. She was 92 years old.

Born on February 7, 1934, Elinor led a life rich in service, exploration, and leadership. Her career was marked by significant contributions to urban development as the Executive Director of the Fayetteville Partnership, as well as numerous downtown organizations in cities such as Houston, TX, Waynesville, NC, and Trenton, NJ. Prior to this, she soared the skies as an Air Hostess for Trans World Airlines and co-owned the Texas Transport Company, showcasing her diverse talents and entrepreneurial spirit.

Elinor’s love for travel took her to 65 countries, each journey adding to her tapestry of experiences and stories. Her commitment to community was evident in her active participation in the Local Rotary, and in her independent living facility, Porters Neck Village, where she served as Vice-President and President of the Resident Council. She was also the esteemed President of Clipped Wings, an organization for retired air hostesses, and was honored with the Paul Harris Fellow Award. Over the years, she contributed her wisdom and energy to over 27 boards and organizations.

Elinor was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Victor and Helen Grimm; her devoted husband, Gordon Netzorg; and her sister, Jeanette Wood. She is survived by her son, Galen Luse (Teresa); her daughter, Cheryl Luse; grandsons Tristan (Mary) and Sean; and great-grandchildren Caroline and Charles. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and inspiration that will be cherished by her family and all who knew her.

Elinor’s memory lives on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her indomitable spirit continues to inspire those whose lives she touched.
