WILMINGTON — William “Bill” Norman Core, 88, passed from his earthly life Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington.
He was born March 18, 1938 in Wilmington, the son of Jack Core and Mildred Farmer Core. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Miriam Barnhill Core December 15, 2025 and one brother.
Bill is survived by his stepson, Donald M. Barnhill, Jr. and his wife, Wendy; special friend, Glenn Hurt (Crystal); and devoted caregivers, Cyretta Page and Pearlene Wells.
He served his country honorably in the US Army.
Bill was mechanically gifted and could always make an old automobile run and be road worthy, a talent he truly enjoyed. He kept an immaculate yard as he spent many hours working in his yard to make it beautiful. His canine companion, Lucky, was always at his side and they both enjoyed Kentucky Fried chicken. Bill was a devoted husband to Miriam.
Service for both Miriam and Bill may be held at a later date.
