WILMINGTON — Gil Hirscher, 87, of Wilmington, NC and previously of Danbury, CT, Stamford, NY, Philadelphia, PA and Kaiserlautern, Germany passed away on Apr. 01, 2026, at his Woods of Holly Tree home supported by Lower Cape Fear LifeCare and 2 of his 7 children.
Gil was born to the late Josef Ehrmanntraut and Maria Theresa Schmitt. Gil was married to the late Ethel Carol Moore for 62 years. Gil worked as a Certified Public Accountant at several businesses in Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut. He volunteered with the Knights of Columbus and was a Eucharistic minister. He will be dearly missed by many friends and acquaintances.
Gil is survived by his children, Debbie Hirscher of Wilmington, NC, Terry Hait of Jefferson NY, Sandy Hirscher of Kernersville, NC, Frannie Caco of Goshen, CT, Lori Clarke of Greensboro, NC, Gil Hirscher, Jr of Charlestown, WV and Connie Hope of Danbury, CT as well as 42 grand and great grandchildren, sister & brother-in-law, nephews, and sons-in-laws.
In lieu of flowers consider a flowering plant or donation to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Gil’s name. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2pm at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market Street, Wilmington, NC.
