WILMINGTON — Ellen Piner Croom went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 31, where heaven gained an angel with a beautiful smile.
She was born in Wilmington, March 4, 1932, the daughter of Charles Piner and Evelyn Rivenbark Piner. She was predeceased by her son, William Thomas (Billy) Godbold, Jr., her husband, Leon L. Croom and her sister, Betty Jo Register.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Godbold, granddaughter Carrie Godbold and husband Zack Johnson, daughter in law Leslie Gaddy Godbold, nephew Keith Register and wife Laurie, grandniece Lindsey Register, grandnephews Jake and Matt Register, and brother-in-law Roland Register.
She was a long-time member of Seagate Baptist and then Winter Park Baptist Church.
She retired from the Wilmington – New Hanover County Insurance Advisory Committee.
She loved to travel and enjoyed her trips to Hawaii, the beach, and the mountains. She loved family game nights with her family, especially Wii bowling!
In 1998 she became a Caniac! Enjoying the Carolina Hurricanes hockey games in person and each telecast!
