WILMINGTON — Donald Norman Spradlin – a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and loyal friend. He passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on March 27, 2026 in Wilmington, NC.
He was born in Dearborn, MI to Elmer and Nell Spradlin. He married his sweetheart, Elsie, in 1956. They would have been married 70 years this June.
Don worked for General Motors for 35 years as a Model Maker— he retired in 1986 and they moved to Wilmington, NC.
He loved his children and grandchildren. Son, Steve Spradlin (Sue); Grandson, Shaun Spradlin (Danielle); Great-grandchildren, Hailey and Zachary Spradlin; Grandson, Shane Spradlin (Tara); Great-grandchildren, Austin, Carly, Jasmine, Seth Spradlin; Daughter, Charlotte Hatfield (Richard); Grandson, Tommy Hatfield (Tracie); Great-grandchildren Conner (Ava), Kellan, Lily Hatfield; Granddaughter, Jenny Snowdon and Great-grandson, Landon Snowdon.
Don loved motorcycles and took many trips with his wife and others. He had many hobbies—Trains, woodworking, shortwave radio, and a home theater he built to mention a few.
Don was a member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church in Wilmington. He had many friends there. His nickname was “trouble”. He had a dry sense of humor and loved to see people laugh.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2026 at 11:00am at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, 5524 Myrtle Grove Road, Wilmington, NC 28409. Visitation begins at 10:15am.
