WILMINGTON — Jacqueline Norris Osborne, 91, of Wilmington, passed from her earthly life on Monday, March 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 11, 1934, in the Ingram Cabin now displayed at the Grayson Highland State Park, Grayson County, Virginia, the seventh of eleven children, to the late Courtney Albert Osborne and the late Goldie Farmer. Jacqueline was the first cousin to Ola Belle Campbell Reed, the American Appalachian Folk Singer, Songwriter, and Banjo player.
Jacqueline worked for the forest service in Marion, Virginia, as a secretary, in the 1970’s during the planning and building of the state campgrounds in the beautiful Virginia Appalachian Mountains. She then worked in healthcare till the age of 70. She loved gardening. Vegetables canned from her garden, fresh eggs, and milk from the family farm fed her children. Jacqueline was a loving mother, grandmother, and disciple of Jesus. We will miss her dearly until we meet her again in heaven.
Jacqueline is survived by her daughters, Donna Elizabeth Freeman (David Freeman), Janet Darlene Ballard (Philip Ballard); her beloved son whom she adored, Keith Nelson Davis; her grandchildren, Sarah Jade, Jodi, Eric, Genevieve, Philip, Cameron, Caleigh, Christopher; and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Jacqueline was also preceded in death by her son, Leonard Jack Davis.
